Annie at age 75 hiking in Colorado at Copper Mountain.
This site is in memory of my Mom, Annie Snyder, who was a veteran of many battles. In February of 1999, after a month on life support, she won her hardest battle of all, against pneumonia, at the age of 77. Inspite of congestive heart failure and diabetes, Annie lived 3 1/2 good years more after her close call. She died peacefully on July 19, 2002. We miss her badly.

The Washington Post described Annie at 63 as "the grande dame whose crusades to preserve the rural western quadrant of the fast-growing county have been a thorn in the sides of dozens of politicians and developers for more than three decades...She is credited with stopping a $35 million amusement park proposed for western Prince William by Marriott Corp, and with blocking a proposal to build a large cemetery on the grounds of the Manassas Battlefield Park."
In 1988, Annie got the nickname "Stonewall Annie"
in what the media dubbed "The Third Battle of Manassas."
This was a grass-roots effort that culminated in a congressional
bill seizing land from mega-developer, John "Til" Hazel,
to annex it to the Manassas Battlefield Park. In 1994, it
was "Annie gets her gun" (The Washington Post)
when she took on the fight against the Disney's planned theme
park in Haymarket, adjacent to the Manassas Battlefield.
